Use AI to Improve Your French!

Take advantage of the latest language-learning technology. 2025 is a great time to improve your French because we have incredible tools available right at our fingertips. Many AI-powered apps now offer features that provide real-time feedback on pronunciation and grammar.

You can also use ChatGPT or similar AI to practice conversations in French. Simply prompt the AI with a scenario, like ordering food in a French café or having a casual conversation with a friend, and practice typing or speaking your responses. This is a great way to simulate real-life situations in French without leaving home.

💡 Pro Tip: Set a goal of using one of these apps daily, even for just 5-10 minutes. Consistency will help reinforce what you’re learning.

Focus on Learning Spoken French

Make spoken French a priority in your learning journey. Many language learners focus on formal French, but everyday spoken French can be very different. Mastering colloquial expressions, idioms, and the natural flow of conversation will make you feel more comfortable and confident when speaking with native speakers.

To help you get started, I’m offering a free eBook called “Maîtriser le Français Parlé (Mastering Spoken French). It’s packed with tips, examples, and exercises that focus on conversational French, so you can feel prepared for real-life interactions.

Embrace Shadowing Exercises for Pronunciation

Focus on improving your pronunciation through shadowing exercises. If you want to sound more like a native speaker, shadowing is one of the best techniques. Listen to a native French speaker and immediately repeat what they say, matching their intonation, rhythm, and pronunciation.

To make it easier, I’ve created a special YouTube playlist with shadowing exercises for French learners. In just 10 minutes a day, you can dramatically improve your pronunciation.

Dive into French Media and Culture

Immerse yourself in French culture daily. Surrounding yourself with French media is one of the best ways to understand real conversational French.

  • Watch French shows or movies: Try movies like L’amour ouf or Le Comte de Monte-Cristo.

  • Listen to French podcasts: My podcast, Ohlala la France!, explores French culture in an easy-to-follow format.

  • Follow French influencers: Many French creators share content with authentic language and expressions.

Set Concrete Goals for 2025

Set specific goals for your French learning in 2025. Don’t just aim to “get better at French.” Instead, make your goals measurable and achievable. Examples:

  • Learn 5 new French words weekly for a total of 250+ by year-end.

  • Commit to speaking French out loud daily or having a weekly conversation.

  • Focus on tricky grammar points monthly, like passé composé or subjunctive.
